Gender Dysphoria

Gender dysphoria is a feeling of discomfort or stress that may occur in people whose gender identity is different from their sex assigned at birth or sex-related physical characteristics.

Transgender or gender-diverse individuals may experience gender dysphoria at some point in their lives; however, some transgender and gender-diverse people feel at ease in their bodies, with or without medical intervention.

The symptoms of gender dysphoria differ from person to person; however, experiencing a marked difference between identified gender and assigned gender that lasts for at least six months is a hallmark of gender dysphoria.

Gender dysphoria may impact many aspects of life, including day-to-day activities, like school and work.  People with gender dysphoria may also experience discrimination, challenges in relationships, and other stressors.

Through treatment focusing on your psychological well-being, quality of life, and self-fulfillment, you can explore your concerns and find ways to less gender dysphoria.
